vExpert

Details

Deadline- December 12th 2014 Midnight PST

Announcement on selectionFebruary 5th 2015 (subject to change)

From VMware Post

The VMware vExpert program is VMware’s global evangelism and advocacy program. The program is designed to put VMware’s marketing resources towards your advocacy efforts. Promotion of your articles, exposure at our global events, co-op advertising, traffic analysis, and early access to beta programs and VMware’s roadmap.

Each year, we bring together in the vExpert Program the people who have made some of the most important contributions to the VMware community. These are the bloggers, book authors, VMUG leaders, speakers, tool builders, community leaders and general enthusiasts. They work as IT admins and architects for VMware customers, they act as trusted advisors and implementors for VMware partners or as independent consultants, and some work for VMware itself. All of them have the passion and enthusiasm for technology and applying technology to solve problems. They have contributed to the success of us all by sharing their knowledge and expertise over their days, nights, and weekends.

vExperts who participate in the program have access to private betas, free licenses, early access briefings, exclusive events, free access to VMworld conference materials online, exclusive vExpert parties at VMworld and other opportunities to interact with VMware product teams. They also get access to a private community and networking opportunities.

2015 vExpert Voting Periods
This year we will have two voting periods for the vExpert program. This first period and then  second voting period in Q2.

Evangelist Path
The Evangelist Path includes book authors, bloggers, tool builders, public speakers, VMTN contributors, and other IT professionals who share their knowledge and passion with others with the leverage of a personal public platform to reach many people. Employees of VMware can also apply via the Evangelist path. A VMware employee reference is recommended if your activities weren’t all in public or were in a language other than English.

Customer Path
The Customer Path is for leaders from VMware customer organizations. They have been internal champions in their organizations, or worked with VMware to build success stories, act as customer references, given public interviews, spoken at conferences, or were VMUG leaders. A VMware employee reference is recommended if your activities weren’t all in public.

VPN (VMware Partner Network) Path
The VPN Path is for employees of our partner companies who lead with passion and by example, who are committed to continuous learning through accreditations and certifications and to making their technical knowledge and expertise available to many. This can take shape of event participation, video, IP generation, as well as public speaking engagements. A VMware employee reference is required for VPN Path candidates.

Changes

There have been a couple changes to the 2015 selection process where they are only voting for selection into the program two times, in Q1 and Q2. This is a change from last year where they had it rolling through every quarter. I still feel it should be selected once in the beginning of the year.

The second I noticed is in the application as you can see in Fig 1, they have the options of selecting specific areas of VMware. I’m not sure I understand why and if they are going to be designating you by the area you select in the future.

I love the vExpert program and have been gracious enough to have been selected the last 3 years. Hopefully it will continue on to another year.  So what are you waiting for click through and apply!

Today Infinio announced the release of Infinio Accelerator v1.2. The update adds support to VMware vSphere 5.5 now. This is great for Infinio as it will help broaden it’s customer install base for those already running on vSphere 5.5.

Find out more about Infinio by clicking here or by simply clicking on the banner along the side of this site.

Another small announcement included with vSphere 5.5 support is the Team over at Infinio is giving away limited number of NFR (not for retail) licenses for home/ test lab use.

Infinio is currently offering a limited number of free fully functional Accelerator licenses for use in test labs.  To learn more, and enter to win the free test licenses, visit http://info.infinio.com/ssd-class-performance-without-ssds-PR.

I like to share this information with my readers because I love the team over at Infinio, having had multiple briefings with them and interacted at numerous user groups. They are a lively bunch, even poaching my good friend Matthew Brender. They are also a sponsor on NerdBlurt.com but when you look past that and look at their product it’s just really cool technology at work. Think the real question here, should be how long before somebody scoops them up.

It has been a long journey on the social road, many paths have crossed and intertwined like the roads on the highways we drive. You never know where a new road could end up taking you.

That is my journey with social, the new connections made and life experiences i’ve had because of this blog and my social interactions have been most excellent! I’ve traveled for big name companies like EMC, Dell and HP all because of my blog and social interactions. It was truly a humbling experience and great time. With all things in life change is inevitable, we can either stay path in which we are on or fork off onto another path. Last year I started my own path with Blurt Media Group, I have learned so much during the time working on it. But I have come to a fork in the road and have decided to give my lives journey some different experiences.

I have accepted to join Stephen Spellicy and the HP team as a Technical Marketing Manager. This is a great opportunity for me to be part of a great team and to bring something different and passionate aboard.

I must thank the folks over at Dell for being great to me and for the chance to partake in the Dell TechCenter Rockstar program, it was truly an honor. To EMC where I started my social journey and have witnessed so much growth of some great friends, the birth of the EMC Elect program which I was honored to have been chosen for 2014.

I can no longer participate in those programs because of my joining HP, and that’s ok as we all need to grow and try new things. This also means more iPads for everyone else at conferences 🙂

To HP thank you for your support and believing in me over the last few years, I look forward to working with all of you as team mates.

Social Matters

I honestly will say one of the coolest part for me is the journey in which the opportunity came about to me, the real power of social. I was messaged by my good friend Matthew Brender about the position that Spellicy tweeted out there. Matt said Luigi I think you would be great in this role and should go for it. Think he knew that the Mrs. was pushing me to look to working for someone versus trying to build my own company. So I reached out to Spellicy. Matt then enlisted another good friend of mine Jonathan Frappier to help encourage me to do it.  From this post you know that I did apply and got the job.

You have to realize that how you are in the social world can have a great impact on your real world life. Had I not met Spellicy or Brender from social ways I may not have this great opportunity in front of me. This can goto you as well, building great relationships matter.

What about Blurt Media Group

That is a great question, Blurt Media Group will still be there. I have turned the reigns over to two people that I have full trust in. Mike Melo who is my brother inlaw and Jonathan Frappier. They both know my vision for the company, I will have zero part in the choices made with-in it.  They are very capable of handling it and I look forward to seeing the journey in which it takes. Jonathan has been my right hand, from the beginning and will do great things in the future.

Nerd’s Blurt

I am really excited about the opportunity in which I will be partaking in. I will have some adjustment s to make, but am so ready for what lies ahead.  I will still be writing on here, and will have some more HP content, but I am still a lover of technology and all around awesome guy.

As the title states I will add a disclaimer to the site letting people know that any views on this site is on my own and not on behalf of my employer HP.
