Monday September 19th things are going to be a little bit different on Twitter, the much anticipated change to tweets is happening! Back in May Twitter announced some changes and they are finally happening! I for one thing it is long over due, for me the Twitter handles not counting is the best part of this update. I have longed for this feature since I started tweeting.
If you are a regular user this change will be minimal and you will most likely go about your tweeting as usual and not really notice. However if you are a business this impacts you the most as you now will have more characters for creating those social posts.
I know I have been wanting this for awhile and am excited that it is finally here! It has only taken 6 years, but it will be here soon! Those group tweets are going to be better now and you can include others, I’ve been in many chats that have multiple people in it and limited the conversation.
What are your thoughts on the changes?
Last week Hewlett Packard Enterprise announced HPE Verity. Now I work for HPE in the business unit and am responsible for the social media. To me it is exciting to see the behind the scenes of what happens when you are launching a product or an update with new features, to be able to finally talk about something you have known about for months. Today is that day I get to talk to you about HPE Verity.
HPE Verity is a next-generation, unified IM&G framework that provides a single source of truth
HPE Verity’s set of applications and services will uniquely help organizations comprehensively manage, govern, and extract actionable insights from enterprise information.
So really what you are looking at is the start of what HPE is touting it’s Next-Gen Information and Governance framework, the stepping stone to many new products. Now working for the group I have insider knowledge and the greater vision but I like paying my bills so I will only talk about what I can when I can.
In a session during HPE Discover the company’s Semi-annual conference David Jones and Stephen Spellicy gave folks a closer look at HPE Verity. You can read a recap of that session here
I am excited for for is to come! I will also be writing some more posts hopefully on here on some of the things I am learning about in the information governance space. I am going to stop here now as I want to write up a quick day one recap of HPE Discover from Las Vegas.
I would also like to note I wrote this on my own as HPE is my employer this is my blog and any writing on here is solely my own opinion or that of any guest writers.
I travel to Las Vegas almost every year for a conference or two or three at times, I have been there many times and thought with HPE Discover going on right now I would write quick note on the Top 5 things I do when I go to Las Vegas.
I understand there is a lot of things to do besides this small list but After a night of partying or a Long conference day having some food, and good laughs is the best medicine.
I hope you like my list as these are some of my favorite things to do. I was not compensated for mentioning any of the establishments, i just really like the food or services. Enjoy Las Vegas!
I had an issue recently where I was getting an absurd amount of draft messages into my Outlook Client. The message was one that I already had sent to a co-worker over a week ago. I had already deleted over 400 messages from my drafts to this point. I tried running the Skype for Business tool to see if it would clear the cache of temp files and hopefully stop this from happening.
No dice, I restarted my computer multiple times and the Skype for Business application itself. The problem still persisted. I then did what most people today, I complained on Twitter.

I felt vindicated briefly, but the problem was still there, then having a few free minutes I went to the Googles.
That is where I found the answer! User Jordan Nolan pointed another user to the solution and right location of the culprit file!
It is not really clear as to why this happens, One thing I did observe is the user I was interacting with had just moved to Office 365, I am still on Exchange. I like the other users are in a mixed application shop meaning, I installed the latest version of Skype over an older install. There maybe some bug I am unaware of that doesn’t play nice with the different versions
This was a simple fix, and I am hoping it doesn’t happen again as it is more annoying then anything as a user to have to do this. I do not like hundreds of drafts in my draft folder and seeing that number made me cringe every-time.
If you haven not done so already there is still time to apply for vExpert 2015. If you read Corey’s post here

The VMware vExpert program is VMware’s global evangelism and advocacy program. The program is designed to put VMware’s marketing resources towards your advocacy efforts. Promotion of your articles, exposure at our global events, co-op advertising, traffic analysis, and early access to beta programs and VMware’s roadmap.
Each year, we bring together in the vExpert Program the people who have made some of the most important contributions to the VMware community. These are the bloggers, book authors, VMUG leaders, speakers, tool builders, community leaders and general enthusiasts. They work as IT admins and architects for VMware customers, they act as trusted advisors and implementors for VMware partners or as independent consultants, and some work for VMware itself. All of them have the passion and enthusiasm for technology and applying technology to solve problems. They have contributed to the success of us all by sharing their knowledge and expertise over their days, nights, and weekends.
vExperts who participate in the program have access to private betas, free licenses, early access briefings, exclusive events, free access to VMworld conference materials online, exclusive vExpert parties at VMworld and other opportunities to interact with VMware product teams. They also get access to a private community and networking opportunities.

There have been a couple changes to the 2015 selection process where they are only voting for selection into the program two times, in Q1 and Q2. This is a change from last year where they had it rolling through every quarter. I still feel it should be selected once in the beginning of the year.
The second I noticed is in the application as you can see in Fig 1, they have the options of selecting specific areas of VMware. I’m not sure I understand why and if they are going to be designating you by the area you select in the future.
I love the vExpert program and have been gracious enough to have been selected the last 3 years. Hopefully it will continue on to another year. So what are you waiting for click through and apply!
